Not all mosquitoes behave the same way, and treating them as one uniform pest is a common reason control efforts fall short. Aedes aegypti, easily identified by the white stripes on its legs and body, is a daytime biter that is most active in the early morning and late afternoon. Because breeding conditions shift with the season rather than staying constant, the timing of preventive treatment matters as much as the treatment itself – larviciding ahead of the monsoon, for instance, is far more effective than waiting until adult populations have already surged.
